RESTAURANTS

Check our restaurant guide for plenty of vegetarian and veg-friendly options!

DINING ON CAMPUS

UGA Food Services offers many vegetarian and vegan options in its dining facilities.

GROCERIES & PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS

Today, virtually every major grocery store sells animal-free foods like veggie burgers, soy and rice milks, meat-free "chicken" patties, soy sausage, and even dairy-free ice creams. Cruelty-free personal care products are also becoming more common. All the usual places you shop will have plenty of animal-friendly items you might have not noticed before.

For even greater selection, there are three excellent specialty stores in Athens:

COMPANION ANIMAL RESCUE & ADOPTION

Athens has several nonprofit groups that work to rescue stray and unwanted pets, to encourage spay and neuter, and to reduce animal neglect, cruelty, and suffering.

REPORTING CRUELTY

Contact Athens-Clarke County Animal Control to report incidents of cruelty and neglect. See also this fact sheet on How to Identify and Report Animal Cruelty in Georgia and the Anti-Cruelty Statutes from the official Code of Georgia.

WILDLIFE REHABILITATION

The Wildlife Treatment Center at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine provides care for wounded wild animals and birds in hope of healing them and returning them to the wild.

EXPERIENCING WILDLIFE

Athens has many great parks and trails where you can enjoy nature and view wildlife.
