Our Through Other Eyes film festival continues with LAST OF THE SPANISH MUSTANGS which tells the story of a man who connects with a rare herd of wild mustangs and exposes those who kill them for foreign dinner tables. Reporter Len Johnson discovers that the myth of wild horses does not match the reality -- our country's wild mustangs are being wiped off their range to support the foreign horse meat market. The Emotional World of Farm Animals
The third feature in our Through Other Eyes film festival, THE EMOTIONAL WORLD OF FARM ANIMALS is a delightful documentary about the thinking and feeling side of animals that are often viewed only as food. Author Jeffrey Masson leads viewers through the personal journey he underwent while writing his latest book, The Pig Who Sang to The Moon. Masson delves into the rich ancestry of these intelligent animals and interviews experts in animal behavior who offer scientific perspectives on these remarkable creatures. A Fall from Freedom
The fourth feature in our Through Other Eyes film festival, A FALL FROM FREEDOM is the definitive film on the controversies of capturing and keeping dolphins and whales in captivity. This film documents the tragic history of the industry where the killer whale, beluga whale, and dolphin are torn from their close-knit families in violent and often illegal captures, contrasted with the mesmerizing social interactions and herd camaraderie exhibited by these animals in their natural ocean habitat. Discussion led by Lori Marino, PhD, professor of Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University. See our Film Festival page for complete details!

Accused by ranchers of stealing forage from cattle, the prairie dog has been shot, gassed, and systematically poisoned for over a century, causing a 98 percent reduction in population. Is the prairie dog the scourge of agriculture and cattle ranchers, or a vital element of a healthy ecosystem? The movie explores all sides of the prairie dog controversy. Discussion led by Michael Ramirez, PhD, professor of Sociology at Georgia College and State University. See our Film Festival page for complete details!
Student Learning Center, room 101, at 7:30 pm.

S.O.S Meeting
Our guest speaker Rae Sikora will give an informative talk on "Science, Ethics, and Animal Experimentation." Of all animal issues, animal experimentation is the most complex and the most difficult to communicate to those around you. It is the only area of animal exploitation where the argument that we "need" to harm and kill animals for our health and well-being is made, and many people believe that animal experimentation is necessary. This program will help you sort out the ethical and scientific issues and communicate them clearly. Rae Sikora is the co-founder of the Institute for Humane Education and a renowned speaker on compassionate living!
