10 Billion Lives Tour
FARM (Farm Animal Rights Movement) is joining forces with SOS to bring their '10 Billion Lives Tour' to the UGA campus. The vehicle sets up in busy public locations where activists offer people $1 to watch a 4-minute video about factory farming — an outreach method known as "pay-per-view." After watching, viewers are encouraged to decrease consumption of animals and work towards a vegan diet. FARM needs volunteers to help with their outreach efforts on both days. It's fun and easy!
Memorial Hall Plaza, 10:00 am — 3:00 pm.

The Psychology of Social Change: How to Open Hearts and Minds
Join us for a talk by Nick Cooney, author of Change Of Heart: What Psychology Can Teach Us About Spreading Social Change. The success of every advocacy and social justice movement hinges on one central question: how effective are we at changing the attitudes and behaviors of the public? This presentation will draw on key research from the fields of psychology, sociology and communication studies to provide concrete advice on how advocates of any cause can more effectively persuade the public to make a change.
Miller Learning Center, room 171, at 4:00 pm.

The Hidden Face of Food: Inside Modern Animal Agriculture
In the past 60 years we've seen a dramatic shift in how our food is produced, a shift that has had tremendous consequences for our health, for farm animals, and for the environment. With the success of documentaries like Food, Inc. and Fast Food Nation, Americans now more than ever want to know how to make the most ethical and sustainable food choices. This presentation will provide an inside look at animal agriculture, and how we as consumers can live out our values every time we sit down to eat. Be sure to catch this inspiring talk by Nick Cooney, Compassionate Communities manager for Farm Sanctuary, a national farm animal protection organization
