George Eisman — Registered Dietitian
George Eisman is considered one of the nation's foremost educators on vegetarian nutrition. He served as a faculty member in Dietetics and Nutrition at several universities and colleges, and created the first accredited program in Vegetarian Studies. He is the author of two books, The Most Noble Diet and A Basic Course in Vegetarian and Vegan Nutrition. Eisman will visit UGA to speak on the 'Health Benefits of a Meatless Diet' so join us and gain a greater understanding of the health advantages of a vegetarian or vegan diet as well as an overview of the other important reasons to move towards meat-free living.

Howard Lyman — Mad Cowboy
Former Montana cattle rancher turned famous animal activist comes to UGA! Author of Mad Cowboy: Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher Who Won't Eat Meat, Lyman will speak and present a free screening of his new film Mad Cowboy: The Documentary.
Lyman was a fourth-generation rancher and feedlot operator until concerns about environmental degradation, animal cruelty, and his health led him in a new direction. Don't miss this special opportunity to hear an outspoken advocate for sustainable organic agriculture and plant-based diets — and one of the animal movement's most prominent & colorful figures!

World Farm Animals Day
This annual observance is dedicated to raising awareness of the needless suffering and deaths each year of 50 billion innocent, feeling animals in factory farms and slaughterhouses. S.O.S will have a table at Tate Plaza with free literature, stickers, DVDS, and more. Come learn how you can help reduce the suffering of factory-farmed animals.

Christine Albright, President of the Board of Directors of the AAHS, will speak to us about their ambitious new plans to make Athens a model city for animal welfare and how S.O.S can help make that goal become a reality. Come learn how you can help animals in our community! Free vegan treats!

Being Caribou
Right now, Congress is debating the fate of America's greatest wilderness: the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Come see a free screening of the award-winning film Being Caribou and learn how you can help save this critically important habitat from becoming an industrial oil field. Environmentalist Leanne Allison and wildlife biologist Karsten Heuer follow a herd of 120,000 caribou on foot across 900 miles of rugged Arctic tundra. The husband-and-wife team wants to raise awareness of threats to the caribou's survival. Dramatic footage & video diaries provide an intimate perspective of an epic expedition.

Save the Seals Demonstration at Red Lobster
S.O.S will participate in the campaign sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States to
stop the killing of baby seals in Canada. Come out and urge Red Lobster to protect seals by boycotting Canadian seafood until the commercial seal hunt is ended forever. If you will be attending, please contact
